Radial Revisited

As soon as Lisa and Dee told us that Radial Cafe was their new favorite place for a weekend breakfast, we started planning a meetup with them there. Not that I need an excuse to eat at Radial, but it was handy to have one. If you remember, we have an early post about Radial, wherein we praised them for being the only restaurant in Georgia to have gotten certification from the Green Restaurant Association. Well, I just checked and they still are the only restaurant in Georgia to be GRA certified. That says a lot of good things about Radial, not so much for the rest of the state. Come on, people.

We're enjoying our breakfast and coffee (more on the coffee later) and the musical enlightenment of Flamenco guitarist Ednaldo Gueiroz when the owner, Phil Palmer, comes out to say "Hi". Phil was as busy as you might imagine he would be on a weekend morning, working the line with the rest of his cooks, but he took time out to talk to us anyway.

The biggest news he had was about Radial's delicious new coffee and the supplier, Java Vino. Java Vino, is a family-owned, independent coffee and wine house located on Moreland Avenue in Poncey-Highlands. Their house coffee is grown on the family's farm in Nicaragua, a farm which has won awards for sustainable coffee farming. They've created an exclusive blend just for Radial Cafe, and man is it good.
After hearing all the good things Phil had to say about Java Vino, its co-owners Steve Franklin and Heddy Kuhl (Steve's wife) and his trip to the family's coffee farm in Nicaragua, I knew we needed to pay a visit to Java Vino. Oh, goody; another excuse.
So, as for the Radial update: they're greener than ever and always looking for ways to be even better. They continue to set an example that we wish all restaurants and food purveyors would strive to equal. Now, off to Java Vino!

I've been looking forward to going to Radial and found coupons at www.HalfOffDepot.com, which will make for an even easier experience on my wallet.
